Dear Kathy and Henry,
I am so saddened to hear the news about Newell. We had so much fun when he would stay in my office during department meetings at Dartmouth. He taught me so much even at 12 about my palm pilot. I can’t tell you how he made my heart sing to be around him. Because of Newell, I have bought numerous sets of Zometools for my grandchildren and others. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Sending my love.

I’m so sorry to hear the news of Newell’s passing. I remember him from junior choir as a spirited and incredibly intelligent little boy! I hope you are finding strength in the memories of his adorable smile and spirit!

Our hearts go out to you for the deep pain of the loss of Newell. He was such a smart, talented character. I remember teachings a class with Mr. Price about the physiology of the brain and nervous system in 8th grade at Waldorf. He asked the most extraordinary, thought-provoking questions with quirky humor that cracked up the class! He was the most unforgettable member of his Waldorf class.

I did not know Newell personally, but he did leave a lasting impression on me. My son, Brian Charron, was in the honors program at HHS with Newell. I still remember his final thesis on the 4 propeller helicopter. My father, an aeronautical engineer, talked with Newell after his presentation to let him know how he could fix some of the issues he had experienced with his theory. I still think of Newell every time I see a 4 propeller drone. I was saddened to see this obituary and am so sorry for your loss.

I was deeply saddened to hear about Newell. As an educational professional, I met Newell some years ago at the Waldorf School and was so impressed by his unique gifts and talents. Although it may be too early to attend, I wanted to make sure you both know about Compassionate Friends which meets monthly and is open only to parents and grandparents who have lost children. It was extremely helpful to me when I lost my 38 year old daughter suddenly in 2015. Please feel free to reach out to me anytime.

I am heartbroken to hear this. Newell was a quirky, bright, fun, and thoroughly fascinating student. He kept in touch through all the intervening years and I looked forward to our interactions. My deepest sympathies to you all.

Newell was an old soul in a young body—always straightforward with his ideas and opinions, eager to educate others, and generous with his humor and interest in others and the world. I am deeply sorry for your loss.

I too was absolutely heartbroken to learn about Newell. I always looked forward to our meetings at Umpleby’s where he loved the croissants and eagerly explaining his zero-gravity, three-dimensional chess game program to me before we pivoted to talk about employment ideas in the Upper Valley and beyond. And dinner at Applebee’s to celebrate his upcoming computer boot camp in Washington State. I will always remember his gentle kindness, and his very funny and precisely accurate observations about the absurd state of the world. I miss Newell and his resilience to continuously try new things in the face of challenges. Deepest sympathies to Henry and Kathleen.
